2008 Ford Fusion 1.6TDCi

I have owned a number of Ford Fusion over the years,

The purple Fusion+ is the 5th one that I’ve owned & is a 1.6tdci with a manual gearbox. It was purchased just over three year’s ago, with some help from my late mother, as the Fusion that I was driving to & from work every day was up to 96,000 miles. I felt it was a good time to change before something expensive went bang.

My sister found its replacement on Autotrader with just over 21,000 miles on the clock. Having checked it was still available, I went & had a look. It was in very nice condition but as it was in the centre of a whole load of cars in a compound. I couldn’t drive it, so i took a chance & bought it. It was delivered a week later after the cam belt & water pump had been changed due to their age.

It’s been a very good car & has had quite a number of other items replaced since I got it. For example- a new windscreen, new power steering pump, new front discs, pads & brake fluid, new exhaust (as still had its original one which had seen better days) & has been regularly serviced by Ford. It’s now covered just under 35,000miles in 17years.

The silver Fusion was bought in mid 2025 from Keywise cars in Exeter (who claim to specialise in low mileage cars) & again was found on Autotrader. Again, it is a 1.6tdci.

I always select the lowest mileage option when using that website & one evening it showed just one car met my search criteria. Having clicked on the link, the silver Fusion+ appeared on the screen. It only had just over 18,600miles on the clock & the DVLA website confirmed that was genuine. The car looked great both inside & out. So again, I thought I’d take a chance. As I didn’t fancy a trip down to Exeter, after a number of phone calls/emails, a delivery date was agreed & they only changed £300 to deliver it to my door.

When the car was delivered, it looked great but I noticed a few things the photo’s & video I’d been sent hadn’t shown. So I made a list of things that needed doing & have so far had a new fuel filter, new brake disc’s pads, brake fluid, new power steering pump, new anti freeze, & it’s about to have a new exhaust very shortly.

An interesting thing about the silver Fusion is that it was the Bristol dealer’s (Brunel Ford), demonstrator & came with a few extras which would have been items they hoped customers would like to add to their new car when placing an order These include a glass sunroof, voice control for certain functions on the radio/cd, leather seats & at some point, the car has had a Witter tow bar fitted. As I’ve no plans to tow with the car, will be removed soon, the other interesting thing is that both cars were supplied by Brunel Ford when new 17 years ago.

The silver Fusion is for sunny day’s & car shows whereas the purple Fusion is the daily driver which i try to keep looking nice.
