1986 Capri 1.6 Laser

Original 1593cc, 4 cylinder OHC Pinto engine and 5 speed gearbox currently on 132,000 miles.

D 171 YGV was registered in 1986 in Ipswich and has remained in East Anglia ever since, spending time in Clacton-on-Sea, where I purchased the car in 1996 for the sum of £725. The car had previously been sold through the Ford main dealer Westwood & Clark Motorworld in Clacton-on-Sea. There were three previous owners prior to myself.

Over the past 25 years it has acquired a new carburettor with manual choke, replacing the original variable venturi, Capri Club manifold and exhaust, new front wings, front and rear bumpers and two full re-sprays. The car has a Mk2 front grille, Mk2 Capri name badge and has had the Laser stripes and decals removed. In 2022 power steering was added which required the existing cross member to be modified to accept a 3 Litre steering rack. A pump and bracket from a 2 Litre Sierra and custom made pipes completed the installation which was done by Station Road Garage in Heacham.
